Privacy notices and statements

Any personal information provided to Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC) by an individual (the data subject) is protected under the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR), and will fall under the following categories:

  • Article 6(1)(a) - Consent: the processing is necessary for GYBC to perform a task and clear consent has been given by the data subject in order to process information provided for this task.
  • Article 6(1)(b) - Contract: the processing is necessary for GYBC to perform a task in relation to a contract with the data subject.
  • Article 6(1)(c) - Legal obligation: the processing is necessary for GYBC to perform a task in order to comply with the law.
  • Article 6(1)(d) - Vital interests: the processing is necessary for GYBC to perform a task in order to protect someone's life.
  • Article 6(1)(e) - Public task:  the processing is necessary for GYBC to perform a task in the public interest or for its official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law.

The Council collects and processes personal data relating to its employees to manage the employment relationship. The Council is committed to being transparent about how it collects and uses that data and to meeting its data protection obligations. The lawful processing ground for this information is Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR (Contract).
