Organising an event

There are many different types of events that take place in the Great Yarmouth area every year. These can range from large events like sporting events, special markets or musical concerts that involve a large number of people, to smaller events like charity fundraising events and local fetes.

Public safety must be a top priority for any event and the Council and its partner agencies wish to support everyone in running their events safely.

For those organising smaller community and local events, the Council has produced a couple of guides:

If you are planning to hold a large-scale event which involves a large gathering of people (more than 500 people), or if your event involves high risk activities or is unusual, then it is strongly recommended you contact the Great Yarmouth Event Safety Advisory Group (GYESAG). The group is made up of representatives from the Council and our partner agencies and provides a single point of contact to event organisers, providing you with independent advice and guidance to ensure a safe and well-planned event.
