The Seabourn Ovation docked at the town's Outer Harbour just before 8am and will spend the day in the port before leaving this evening for Dover, as part of a round-Britain 14 day cruise.

Guests were welcomed to the area by Great Yarmouth deputy mayor Cllr Penny Carpenter, with a three-piece band providing musical accompaniment.

Cllr Carpenter was invited to tour the ship by captain Emilian Cygan.

"It is fantastic to have cruise ships back visiting Great Yarmouth, and we hope that it is something that we will see more of. It was great to greet many of the guests, and to share our history and heritage with them, and see them going into town to visit and explore," said Cllr Carpenter.

Visitors from the ship are able to tour the town on a shuttle bus linking up the port with the seafront and town centre, with organised excursions around Norfolk - including chances to visit Norwich, the Broads, and Sandringham.

The Ovation is 690ft long and 92ft wide, and features 300 suites. On board guests can enjoy multiple restaurants and bars, a fitness centre, spa, two deck pools, and a theatre for lectures and shows across its 11 decks.

The ship is due to return to Great Yarmouth next year as part of its Jewels of the British Isles cruises in September 2023.
