Notice of inspection: Audit of Accounts 2022-23

Notice is hereby given that from 1 November until 12 December 2024 between 10.00am and 4.00pm each day, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, any persons interested may make an application to inspect and request copies of the accounts of Great Yarmouth Borough Council for the year ended 31 March 2023, and all related books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts (except where any part of any record or document contains information which is protected on the grounds of commercial confidentiality).

Due to the current circumstances anyone wishing to view the accounts, should make an application initially via email to: financetech@great-yarmouth.gov.uk and should be addressed to Karen Sly, Section 151 Officer.

During the same period local government electors for the area to which the accounts relate may exercise their rights under sections 26 and 27 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 to question the auditor about or make objections to the accounts for the year ended 31 March 2023.

Please contact the auditor Ms Debbie Hanson at the following address; Ernst & Young LLP, 400 Capability Green, Luton, Bedfordshire LU1 3LU to make arrangements to ask any questions. A copy of any questions must be sent to the Council at the address above. No objections may be made unless the auditor has previously received written notice of the proposed objections and its grounds. A copy of this notice must be sent to Great Yarmouth Borough Council at the address above.

Statement of Accounts Year Ended 31 March 2022, 31 March 2023 and 31 March 2024
Notice of inspection: Audit of Accounts 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24

Following the conclusion of the 2020-21 Accounts in April 2024, there will be a delay in the publication of the draft Statement of Accounts for 2023/24.

Due to the delay in the publication of the audited Statement of Accounts for 2020/21 there has been a subsequent delay to the publication of the 2022/23 Statement of Accounts. This has impacted on the completion of the 2023/24 Accounts as these are reliant on the conclusion of the prior years for comparatives for the extensive disclosure required within the Accounts. The 2021/22 Statement of Accounts are published as a draft document following the update from the conclusion of the 2020/21 audit.

As the 2023/24 Accounts are not yet drafted the period of exercise of public rights has not commenced.

Further notifications will be placed on the website once the 2023/24 Draft Statement of Accounts is available for public inspection.
