General bin information

We provide three waste collections: black bins for household rubbish, green bins for recycling and brown bins for garden waste.

What you should do with your waste
Collection DayTo find out your collection day and which bin is due to be emptied use our find my waste collection service.
Bin presentationGreen and black bins are collected on an alternate weekly schedule. Bins should be placed out from 6pm the day before collection. When leaving your bin on the footpath or at the collection point, please try not to cause an obstruction to others.

DIY Waste

DIY waste is NOT classed as household waste. DIY waste can be disposed of at Caister (HWRC) through the 'Pay as you throw' service. Other options include hiring a skip or employing a registered waste carrier.

Householders duty of care

Your rubbish is your responsibility. As a householder you have a legal obligation to make sure any waste is removed by a registered waste carrier. Check by searching on the Environment Agency public register.

Garden wasteYou are NOT allowed to put garden waste in either your black or green bin. GYBC offer a (paid for) kerb side collection using a brown bin or garden sacks.
