Waste collection policy
Wheeled bin lids
Wheeled bins are designed to be emptied with the lids substantially closed. Subsequently the Council requires that bins are not overfilled and that lids are closed. This is to ensure that all health and safety concerns are complied with including the mechanical operation of the bin lift, and to prevent waste falling out during the tipping process. Closed lids also aids in the prevention of litter escaping from the bins.
The Council reserve the right not to empty any wheeled bin which has been overfilled with its bin lid open. If bins are over filled, then the crew will not return until the next scheduled collection day. It will be down to the householder to deal with any additional waste as a result of the non-collection or arrange an additional empty which would be chargeable.
