Emergency out of hours service

What is an emergency?

For suspected gas leaks - call Cadent on 0800 111 999 immediately.

Emergency repairs for Council tenants

  • you have no electricity
  • you have no hot water
  • you have no heating
  • you have a major leak
  • you have a blocked toilet, blocked foul drain, soil pipe (and no other toilet in property)
  • you have water leaking on to electrics
  • you have a serious roof leak
  • you have exposed wiring or sparking sockets
  • your carbon monoxide or smoke alarm is beeping
  • you are unable to secure your property because you cannot lock an external window or door (you may be charged for lost keys)
  • you are unable to access your property because you have lost your keys (you may be charged for lost keys)

Other issues or complaints

  • you are homeless and have nowhere to stay tonight
  • you or your vehicle are locked in one of the Council's car parks, parks, cemeteries or public toilets
  • you live on the Gypsy and Traveller's site and need to report a repair to the site facilities
  • noise complaint from a commercial or domestic property - the full address will need to provided by the caller.
    • social housing tenants should consult with their housing provider regarding how to report a significant noise complaint
  • damaged trees on Council land which could lead to damage to property or risk to residents

Stray or lost dogs

Stray or lost dogs are dealt with for the Council by Animal Warden Service, which can be contacted on 01493 800697 or info@animalwardenservices.co.uk

It is open from 8am until 7pm, Monday to Friday and 8am until 5pm on weekends and Bank Holidays.
