Game, set, match! Works to start on Gorleston tennis courts
Work to provide residents and visitors with improved tennis courts along Gorleston's cliff top will begin on Monday, March 13.
The work, which will include the resurfacing and refurbishment of all six courts, new fencing and the installation of a 'smart gate', will be complete by the end of April.
Once works are complete, the courts will receive a fresh lick of paint and reopen in June, just in time for the summer season.
Players will be able to reserve slots on the courts with an online booking system before turning up to play, ensuring maximum court usage, increased participation and support the sustainable operation and maintenance of the courts to a high standard.
The investment is being made by the Government and the Lawn Tennis Association's joint investment of more than £30m to refurbish public tennis courts across Britain and support a new generation of players to get access to the sport.
Councillor Emma Flaxman-Taylor, chair of Great Yarmouth Borough Council's Housing and Neighbourhood Committee, said: "The improvements to the tennis facilities located on the cliffs are a welcome addition to the seafront and another attraction for our residents and visitors to enjoy this summer and beyond.
While works take place, there will be a partial closure of Marine Parade Road and the footpath parallel to the courts.
