Motorcycle stunt show to get pulses racing at Great Yarmouth Wheels Festival

The two-day free-to-attend festival is organised by Great Yarmouth Borough Council with sponsorship from individual seafront businesses, and the Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Improvement Area company.

This year's expanded festival is set to draw thousands of families and vehicle enthusiasts for an action-packed weekend, including monster truck rides, a wall of death, displays of prestige, classic and custom cars, large commercial vehicles and much more.

Among the attractions getting visitors in a spin will be the On The Edge Stunt Show, which will see two highly experienced stunt riders, Brad Bullock and Dec Bullock, combine their skills to pull off some spectacular tricks on their trials bikes.

The show includes 15ft jumps up vertical walls, amazing 'drop offs', and a range of freestyle tricks, some of which can only be attempted by a handful of riders in the world. There will be four free-to-watch performances each day in the Jetty North car park.

Cllr Graham Plant, chairman of the economic development committee and deputy council leader, said: "The motorcycle stunt show promises to be a pulse-raising performance and we expect it to be a highlight of the festival, alongside the monster truck rides and wall of death.  

"I'm also pleased to announce that, thanks to generous sponsorship from seafront businesses, the Saturday night will go out with a bang with a free fireworks display on Central Beach at 10pm. I would like to again thank the festival sponsors for their support."

Musical entertainment for the festival will be provided by Harbour Radio, who will broadcast live from an open-sided truck. In addition, the Vibe Tube, from Vibe Audio, will offer an unusual walk-though surround-sound experience, created by car speakers arranged in an arch.

The festival organisers are also pleased to welcome public sector vehicles and partners to help highlight important road safety messages. Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service will be bringing two fire engines, plus a virtual reality unit allowing people to 'experience' being cut out of a car following a serious crash. They will also undertake demonstrations of car-cutting equipment.

Meanwhile, Norfolk Fire Museum will have two historic fire engines to show, a simulation of a car on fire, plus children's entertainment.

There will be displays of NHS blood bikes and British Army Superbikes, which will also be bringing a demonstration Army helicopter and their community engagement stand

Norfolk Constabulary will be displaying two marked patrol cars and two police bikes, with a message focussed on road safety. In addition, First Bus and Pedal Revolution will be teaming up to highlight safe riding practices around buses for riders.

The festival is brought to you by Great Yarmouth Borough Council in conjunction with the Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Improvement Area, Joyland and the American Diner, On the Throttle, Fish & Grill, the Hippodrome Circus and other seafront businesses.

It will take place from 10am to 10pm on the Saturday and 10am to 4pm on the Sunday. On the Saturday, an estimated 15,000 motorcyclists are set to visit the festival, arriving from 10am for On the Throttle's Great Yarmouth Motorcycle Take Over. Then on the Sunday afternoon, Centre 81 Classic Car and Bike Run will parade along the seafront.

This year, motorcyclists planning to access and park within the festival site along the Golden Mile are asked to make a voluntary donation of £2 per bike, which will go towards the running of the festival and the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Bikers can make their donations in advance at the Tourist Information Centre, or on the day of the festival.
