On Wednesday, June 27, a key scene will be mocked-up at Gorleston Beach, with many local people taking part among an invited "audience" of extras. While the northernmost part of the beach will be designated for the filming, Gorleston will remain open to visitors as normal, and the production team have organised a park and ride facility for the extras.

In the film, the hero will be shown playing to adoring fans from the balcony of the Pier Hotel, in a scene that pays homage to the final appearance of The Beatles playing from the Apple Corporation rooftop on Savile Row.

Cllr Graham Plant, the council leader, said: "We are actively promoting the borough as a location for film-making to help promote our national cultural profile and to support the local economy. Our borough is a fantastic place, and I'm really pleased that Danny Boyle and his team have chosen Gorleston as the location for two key scenes, as well as the hero's house.

"Our officers have worked very closely with the production team and partners to ensure that our borough stars in this film. It's also great that local people have been invited to be part of it. The 'beach gig' is the big feel good scene towards the end of the film, which is really appropriate for Gorleston. While the northernmost part of the beach will be designated for the filming, Gorleston will remain open to visitors as normal."

The filming is scheduled to take place between 11am and about 8pm. Most of the extras will be asked to arrive at 1pm and are likely to be gone by 5pm.
