Housing fraud

What is housing fraud?

Examples of housing fraud are:

  • obtaining housing by deception - when someone gets allocated housing by the Council by withholding or giving false information in the application
  • illegal subletting - when a tenant lets out their Council or housing association home without the permission of their landlord
  • wrongly claimed succession
  • you fail to use the property as your main home
  • withholding information or giving false information as part of a Right to Buy application
