Introduction
Great Yarmouth Borough Council (the Council) is committed to protecting the rights and privacy of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data.
It is necessary for the Council to process certain information about its Elected Members, Staff, Service Users and other individuals it has dealings with for various purposes to provide services or to comply with legal obligations to public bodies and government.
Such processing will be conducted fairly and lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 (GDPR). If you have a query regarding the accuracy of your personal data then your query will be dealt with fairly and impartially.
The Council has adopted a Data protection policy that applies to all staff and elected members of the Council.

Any breach of the Data Protection Act or the Council's General Data Protection Policy is considered to be an offence and in that event, Great Yarmouth Borough Council's disciplinary procedures will apply.
As a matter of good practice, other agencies and individuals working with the Council, and who have access to personal information, will be expected to have read the Council's General Data Protection Policy and will sign a contract agreeing to abide by the policy.
