Saplings and shrubbery to be cleared for fencing at site earmarked for development
Work to fence off land earmarked for development at Beacon Park in Gorleston is due to get underway next week.

The site, adjacent to where new homes are being built, is between Beaufort Way and Woodfarm Lane and is owned by Great Yarmouth Borough Council. It was allocated for potential development in the council's Local Plan.
The work to clear some saplings and shrubbery ahead of the bird-nesting season is being carried out by the council's in-house team and is scheduled to last about a week. Contractors will then install fencing in preparation for potential development in the future.
A spokesperson for Great Yarmouth Borough Council said: ''Bird-nesting season runs from March until August, so it is important the saplings and shrubs are cleared now to make sure wildlife is protected. We always endeavour to ensure any necessary work such as this is carried out as sensitively as possible with as little disturbance as possible to flora and fauna.''
