About us: Great Yarmouth Borough Council (the Council) of Town Hall, Hall Plain, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2QF is the data controller for the purposes of 'Data Protection Legislation.' Data Protection Legislation means the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and all other applicable or amending legislation.

What is our lawful processing ground? We process your data as part of our duty as a local authority. This is part of our public task defined under Article 6(1)(e) UK GDPR and has a clear basis in law namely the under the Housing Act 2004, Protection from Eviction Act 1977 & The Licensing and Management of Houses in Multiple Occupation and Other Houses (Miscellaneous Provisions) (England) Regulations 2006.
Will we share your data? In performing this service, the Council may share your information with other organisations or departments, but only when it is satisfied that it is necessary to perform a public task, or to exercise its statutory duties to do so.
The Council may also share your personal information for the purposes of the prevention, investigation, detection, or prosecution of criminal offences, but will not share your personal information, or use it for any other purpose, unless provided for by law.
How long do we keep your data? Your information will be stored in a secure, password-protected database/spreadsheet on the Council's computer system.
Your personal information is required to be kept for 2 years following the date of registration after which time it will be securely deleted. We will review dates for keeping personal data in the future and if necessary, update these privacy notices.
Your rights: You have a number or rights available to you, including:
- the potential right to see copies of all the data held about you
- to ask for it to be corrected or deleted
- to request the Council restricts what it does with your data in certain circumstances
- to object to what the Council may do with your data
- to data portability
